PREPREG TECHNOLOGY – PRE-IMPREGNATED FIBRE PRODUCTS

Prepreg is the term given to a preliminary product which is used in the manufacture of fibre composite components. Such a prepreg consists of a fibre material which is already impregnated with a synthetic resin, therefore pre-impregnated. The diversity of materials which can be used as prepregs is extensive. Not only the fibres themselves but also the type of fibre material, for example woven or NCF, can be custom-produced according to requirements, as can the enclosing synthetic resin matrix. The manufacture of components is carried out at INVENT under specific pressure and temperature conditions – for example in an autoclave or a vacuum.
