Since 2006 the Invent GmbH has developed and produced piezo-electric transducers, which are distributed worldwide with the brand name DuraAct by PI Ceramic GmbH. These piezo-electric d31-transducers have the following main application areas:

• Noise reduction
• Vibration control
• Contour control and stabilisation
• Energy harvesting
• High dynamic and precise actuators
• Health Monitoring
 

Within the scope of the development of DuraAct-transducers, a concept for the series production of compact, manageable and cost-effective piezo-electric elements has been realised. The DuraAct-transducers can be used for various applications. The specific properties permit an application as bending-transducers as well as high-precise active elements. Furthermore the DuraAct-transducers can be utilised as sensor or as energy source.

Further advantages of the DuraAct transducers are:

• High damage tolerance
• Specific choice of materials and geometry
• High durability
• Specific frequencies
• Application at curved surfaces

With respect to the compact design the DuraAct-transducers can be applied to structure areas, where deformations should be generated or detected. Therefore DuraAct is an ideal component for active and adaptive systems. Integrated in a controlled loop, vibrations of parts can be reduced and structures can be controlled in the area of nano-meters.

DuraActs are available in different standardised designs. The transducers have a modular lay-up structure. Consequently specific geometries can be realised and different kinds of materials can be chosen with respect to the required application. Thereby customer’s specific designs can be offered at moderate costs and in every requested quantity. The application as multi-layer module is also possible. These modules can be used as actuator-sensor combination. The transducers can be provided on short notice with a proved and excellent quality.

Furthermore the expertise of the Invent GmbH in the development and production of fibre reinforced structures enables a combination with the products of the DuraAct family. Thereby a manufacturing of complete adaptive components from the conceptual design to the production is possible. Additional existing parts can be equipped with the piezo-electric transducers according to customer’s requirements. Wide experience in the field of adhesive technology enables the application onto nearly every material.
