    Projekt Solar Sail

    Beim Sonnensegel soll der Strahlungsdruck der Sonne als Antriebsquelle genutzt werden. Das ESA/DLR-Projekt „Solar Sail“, für das INVENT zentrale Komponenten gefertigt hat, konnte 1999 im Rahmen der internationalen Luft- und Raumfahrtausstellung (ILA) die Entfaltung eines 20 m × 20 m großen Sonnensegels am Boden demonstrieren. Das Segel bestand aus vier aufgerollten CFK-Booms, die beim Ausfahren ein Kapton-Segel aufspannten.
